Answer
PROBLEM
Spam emails are not going to junk folder but are still being flagged as spam.
ENVIRONMENT
- GFI MailEssentials
- All Supported Environments
SOLUTION
The header will show it was marked as spam as well.
For Example:
X-GFIME-MASPAM: SPAM
X-GFI-MOVETOJUNK: 1
X-MS-Exchange-Organization-SCL: 9
This example shows that the email was able to get an SCL 9 value. MailEssentials is working as intended. Once it gets that SCL 9 value when using the action Send to Outlook junk folder it is then up to Exchange to grab the email, read the SCL 9 value and send it off to junk.
It is most likely going to be either an Exchange or Outlook issue. To determine this, go into Exchange Message Tracking and search for any of the emails that are not going to junk but being flagged as spam. Exchange will tell you if the email was sent to junk or the inbox.
- If Exchange shows it went to junk, then it is an Outlook problem. You will want to check if there is possibly an outlook rule set causing this issue.
- If Exchange shows it went to the inbox, then it’s an Exchange problem. You will need to check your Exchange options.
CAUSE
This issue occurs when there is either a rule set within Outlook causing the mail to be sent to the users inbox or a setting within Exchange causing these emails to not go to the junk mail folder.
