It is not possible to change anything in the GFI MailEssentials configuration

Answer

PROBLEM

When clicking on any button in the GFI MailEssentials configuration nothing happens.

ENVIRONMENT

  • GFI MailEssentials
  • all supported environments

SOLUTION

To resolve this issue, you need to add the GFI MailEssentials website to the Local Intranet sites. This can be done as follows:
  1. Open the GFI MailEssentials configuration
  2. In the Internet browser window, open Tools > Internet Options > Security Tab
  3. Select Local Intranet
  4. Click the Sites button
  5. Click the Add button next to Add the Web site to the zone:
  6. Click Close

CAUSE

The GFI MailSecurity and GFI MailEssentials console fails to work if cookies are disabled for the GFI MailEssentials site. Placing the GFI MailEssentials site in the Local Intranet zone will allow Internet Explorer to accept cookies from the GFI MailEssentials site.
