Overview
This guide is intended to help you turn notification emails on or off in GFI MailEssentials.
Please note that notifications are configured individually as Actions for each filter.
Information
All of these actions are configured from the GFI MailEssentials Configuration interface.
Email Security
To turn on or off notifications when an email is blocked due to an Email Security filter please do the following:
- Navigate to GFI MailEssentials Configuration > Email Security
- Select the desired filter. This can be any one of the following:
- Trojan & Executable
- Email Exploit Engine
- Any of the Virus Scanning Engines
- Select the Actions tab and check/uncheck the corresponding box for the desired user type in the Notification options box:
- Apply the changes
Content Filtering
To turn on or off notifications when an email is blocked due to a Content Filtering policy, please perform the following:
- Navigate to GFI MailEssentials Configuration > Content Filtering
- Select the desired filter. This can be any one of the following:
- Keyword Filtering
- Attachment Filtering
- Decompression Engine
- Advanced Content Filtering
- Select the required rule, by clicking on its name
- Select the Actions tab and check/uncheck the corresponding box for the desired user type in the Notification options box:
- Apply the changes
Quarantine module
You may be receiving the notification generated by the quarantine module. To turn these on or off, please follow the steps below.
The configuration differs slightly based on the version you have installed:
GFI MailEssentials 2012
- Navigate to GFI MailEssentials Configuration > Quarantine
- Select Quarantine Options > Malware Options and check/uncheck the Notification box.
- Apply the changes
GFI MailEssentials 2014 and Later
- Navigate to GFI MailEssentials Configuration > Quarantine
- Select Quarantine Options > Malware Options and uncheck the Send quarantine approval forms by email box:
- Apply the changes
