Overview
The old Quarantined Items in GFI MailEssentials could be deleted automatically by creating search folders and configuring them to purge items which match search criteria.
This article uses an example to explain how to create a search folder to purge Quarantined emails older than 60 days which have been triggered by the attachment checking module.
Process
Follow the GFI MailEssentials version specific instructions provided below:

GFI MailEssentials 2014:

Open the GFI MailEssentials Configuration.

Expand Quarantine and click on Search Folders.

Set the Search for field to All Emails.

Enter a name under Search Folder name, such as 60 day retention.

Leave the Date on Any date/time.

Leave the rest of the fields blank.

Check the option Enable Auto-purging and enter the desired retention period in days.

Enter
60
as the retention period. -
Click Apply.

GFI MailEssentials 2015 and later:

Open the GFI MailEssentials Configuration.

Expand Quarantine > Quarantine Options > Malware Options.

Under Retention Period select Enable and set the time you would like to retain the Quarantine.

Click Apply.

Note: Purged emails deleted from the Quarantine and are not recoverable.
