Answer
PROBLEM
When Installing GFI MailEssentials, the Post-Installation Wizard does not have the option to specify the name of the sub-folder, if the default anti-spam action is set to “Deliver to Exchange Subfolder”. As a result, the sub-folder within Microsoft Exchange will be created automatically, but under a different, incorrect node.It will be created with the default value: Inbox/Spam or Inbox/Suspected Spam. This will cause a confusion on non-English environments, where the Inbox has a different name. (e.g. Posteingang).
ENVIRONMENT
- All supported versions of GFI MailEssentials, installed directly on the Microsoft Exchange server
- Microsoft Exchange 2007 and above, non-English versions
SOLUTION
Correct the path of the sub-folder in each filter within the GFI MailEssentials Configuration, to match the locale of Microsoft Exchange. On a German installation for example, change from Inbox/Suspected Spam to Posteingang/Spam.
After this, the incorrect folder can be deleted manually from Outlook.
Note:
The subfolder will be created automatically, if the first email is blocked by the Anti-Spam filter.
