Overview
Depending on the license type in use, there are two different quarantine locations that may need to be migrated when moving to a new server or hard drive:
Location | Description |
|
This is the folder holding all the emails quarantined by the EmailSecurity and ContentFiltering modules, engines, and rules. |
|
This is the folder holding all the emails quarantined by AntiSpam filters and is only populated when the first item is quarantined. |
This article provides the process for migrating the different quarantine folders in MailEssentials.
Process
Note:
Before stopping the MailEssentials services, stop the Microsoft Exchange Transport service or the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol service first. This is because the GFI MailEssentials Attendant, GFI MailEssentials AS Scan Engine, and GFI MailEssentials AV Scan Engine services will auto-start on their own when mail flow is detected.
-
Take a backup of the two quarantine folders mentioned in the table above.
-
Launch
Services.msc
. -
Stop the GFI MailEssentials services (refer to the article Taking a Backup of GFI MailEssentials Configuration for the list of services).
-
Copy the backups of the folders to the new location/server.
-
Start the GFI MailEssentials services stopped in Step 3.
Confirmation
The Antispam and Email Security quarantines from the old server will be available in the new instance of the MailEssentials server.
