Answer
In order to automatically purge the Malware and Content Filtering quarantined items, a Search folder must be created and set to automatically purge items over a set date. To do so:GFI MailEssentials 2012-2014R2
- Open to the MailEssentials Configuration Console
- Locate the Quarantine drop down
- Select the Search Folders option
- Set the Search for option to Malware and Content Only
- Create a search folder name
- Navigate to the Auto-Purging section
- Select the check box to Enable Auto-Purging
- Set Automatically purge items older than: to the amount of days you would like to purge
- Click Save Folder
- Open to the MailEssentials Configuration Console
- Expand the Quarantine Dropdown
- Navigate and expand the Quarantine Options
- Select the Malware Options
- Under the Retention Period enable and set the the days you would like to retain the items
- Click Apply to save the changes
