Answer
Note: The procedure below is only valid when the GFI MailEssentials Public Folders are accessed via MAPI (Exchange 2003). You cannot move the public folders to a sub-folder in Exchange 2007 or newer.Follow this procedure to move the GFI MailEssentials Public Folders to a sub-folder:
- Close the GFI MailEssentials configuration
- Stop the GFI MailEssentials services and the IIS Admin service. Take note of any dependency services which are stopped
- From the GFI MailEssentials directory, locate the file strings.xml and make a backup copy of this file
- Open Strings.xml in notepad or another text editor > Right click it > View source
- Find the section <string id="ids_rootfolder">
- Alter the string ids found in this section as required
Example:
<string id="ids_rootfolder">GFI AntiSpam Folders</string>
would be changed to
<string id="ids_rootfolder">Company 1 Folder/GFI AntiSpam Folders 2</string>
- Save the changes
- Re-start the services stopped in Step 2
IMPORTANT:
- Only the text marked in bold should be changed. The rest of the text should not be changed
- When you upgrade GFI MailEssentials, strings.xml will be replaced
- You will need to manually edit this file each time you upgrade
- Strings.xml is a very important file for GFI MailEssentials. Incorrect use of this file will result in malfunctioning of GFI MailEssentials.
- Should you notice any strange behavior, you should revert to the backed up strings.xml
