Overview

Unable to install MailEssentials due to the following error:

Product: GFI MailEssentials for Exchange/SMTP -- Internal Error 2753.e2k7wiz.exe

Environment

• GFI MailEssentials
• All supported environments

Root Cause

Specific registry keys need to be deleted to allow the GFI MailEssentials upgrade or installation to go through.

Resolution

1. Ensure the installer file for GFI MailEssentials is unblocked. Right-click Properties and choose Unblock.
2. Ensure UAC is disabled.
3. Make a backup of the registry and browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Products\. Go through each key in this location and look for InstallProperties listed as GFI MailEssentials. Delete this key.
4. Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\. Go through each key in this location and look for ProductName listed as GFI MailEssentials. Delete this key.
5. Reboot the server.
6. Re-run the MailEssentilas installation.
