Overview
When trying to install GFI MailEssentials, the post-install wizard will not complete. The following error will be logged in the ..\MailEssentials\DebugLogs\e2k7wizard.txt
log file:
error ","e2k7wizard","error: IsAgentRegistered exception: A parameter cannot be found that matches parameter name 'TransportService'."
Environment
- GFI MailEssentials
- Microsoft Exchange 2007 and 2010 server
Root Cause
A left-over Microsoft Exchange 2013 registry key let GFI MailEssentials 2012 think that Microsoft Exchange 2013 is installed and present. Hence it does not recognize the TransportService parameter during its agent installation process.
Resolution
If the GFI MailEssentials machine does not have Microsoft Exchange 2013 installed, then it should not have the following registry keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\ExchangeServer\v15\
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\ExchangeServer\v15\
Usually, this key is present when the Microsoft Exchange 2013 server has been installed on the GFI MailEssentials machine and then later on removed. When this key is removed, the post-installation should complete successfully.
