Overview

In rare deployment situations, you may be unable to use the Product Updates feature to install product updates. Such cases may include deployments to a DMZ with no Internet access, deployments to air-gapped environments, or any other scenario that prevents GFI MailEssentials to connect to the internet.

Solution

In these rare cases, you may manually download the patches and install them in sequential order (unless otherwise instructed) on your environment. The download links may be different based on the version installed in your environment, so make sure to download the correct patches for your version.

Also, please make sure that your server meets the GFI MailEssentials System Prerequisites in order to minimize the risk of the patches not installing correctly.

Once the patches are downloaded, move these files to the MailEssentials server and deploy them sequentially (i.e. Patch 1, followed by Patch 2, followed by Patch 3...) as follows:

1. Unblock the cab file (if the option is available)
   
2. Unzip the cab file and then the zip file contained within the cab file.
   
   • Note: depending on the archive tool used, you may get an error while extracting the ZIP file from CAB. Just ignore it, as this is due to the nature of the CAB file.
   
   • if you test the extracted ZIP archive it should be good, and you can proceed with the installation.
3. Right-click the GFIPatchExecuter.exe and Run as Administrator.
   • Note: You may need to click the Rollback button and reinstall if it previously failed to install.
