Overview
Sometimes during the migration process between different mail servers, you may need to bind GFI MailEssentials to two or more different servers, such as multiple Exchange servers in order to keep protection active.
Information
MailEssentials supports multi-server operation, where multiple MailEssentials servers can be set up, by configuring one of them as the Master server, and the rest as Slave servers. This will ensure that the configuration settings are synchronized between servers and reporting/quarantine databases are centralized.
However, as a multi-server setup requires the MailEssentials servers to sync settings, a scenario in which you want to synchronize between an Exchange installation and a Gateway/Perimeter installation of MailEssentials is not supported, as MailEssentials behaves differently depending on the installation mode. One such situation may be encountered when attempting to use both an SMTP compliant mail server such as Lotus Notes and Exchange.
