URI DNS Filter Searches Parts of the Actual URI Resulting in Blocked Emails

Overview

URI DNS filter is looking up parts of the actual URI that should be checked, resulting, at times, in the email being blocked by the filter as the checked (incorrect) URI was found on one of the lists (see example below):

Environment

GFI MailEssentials SR2 and R2.

Resolution

Install one of the following patches depending on your version of GFI MailEssentials:

MailEssentials SR2: ME2014_SR2_PATCH_20140624_1935.zip

MailEssentials R2: ME2014_R2_PATCH_20140818_1935.zip

The installation steps are provided within the zip file and are as follows:

  1. Right-click the ZIP file and click Properties.
  2. In the General tab, click Unblock.
  3. Unpack the ZIP file.
  4. Execute GFIPatchExecuter.exe.
