What are the private queues used by GFI MailEssentials (MSMQ)?

Overview

The Microsoft Message Queuing ( MSMQ ) Private Queues are used by GFI MailEssentials to cache data that need to be written into various databases.

This article provides information on which queues are used and how to access them.

Information

To access the private queues:

  1. Go to Start > Run.
  2. Type compmgmt.msc and press Enter. The Computer Management console is displayed.
  3. Click Services and Applications > Message Queuing > Private Queues.

It is normal that during peak hours (high mail flow) the number of messages in the queues increases; it returns to normal after a short while.

If the GFI MailEssentials module fails to write data into a queue three times, it moves it to the Recovery Queue and is re-processed after a restart of the GFI MailEssentials services or the server.
